PARIS: Serena Williams provided her service Naomi Osaka on Monday following the Japanese participant’s choice to withdraw from the French Open in the aftermath of her boycott of media conferences.
In an announcement on Monday, Osaka stated she didn’t want her position to be a diversion and stated that she was coping with mental health problems since 2018.
Williams, 39, was asked for her response to Osaka’s conclusion after her first-round triumph over Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu.
“Frankly I only discovered before I walked to the press conference, therefore that is the extent of this for me,” Williams told me.
Pushed for her view about Osaka’s claim last week which post-match media conventions have been detrimental her psychological health, and Monday’s abrupt improvement, Williams explained:”The one thing I believe is that I believe for Naomi.
“I really feel as if I want I could offer her a kiss because I understand what it is like.
Like I mentioned, I have been in these places.
“We have distinct personalities, and individuals are different.
Not everybody is exactly the same.
I am thick (pared ).
Other folks are slim.
Everybody differs and everyone handles things differently.
“You just need to let her manage it how she would like to, at the very best manner she believes she is, and that is the one thing I could say.
I believe she is doing the best she could.
” Williams stated it was essential for gamers to have somebody to work with as a”sounding board” in rough times.
“You need to have the ability to generate an energy and state, I want assistance with B, A, C, and D, and even speak to somebody,” she explained.
“Whether it is somebody in the WTA or if it is somebody on your life.
Perhaps it’s somebody which you speak to about a weekly basis.
I have been in this place, also.
“I have certainly had opportunities to speak to individuals, sort of get stuff off my chest I can not always speak to anybody in my loved ones or anybody I know.
”
