Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero was taken to hospital after he suffered chest pain and complained about feeling dizzy over a 1-1 draw with Alave on Saturday.
“Sergio Aguero struggled with chest pain for most of the first half and was replaced by Philippe Coutinho in the first round and then taken to the hospital for heart analysis,” Barcelona said in a statement.
During the first half, the Argentine appeared to signal to the bench he wanted to take off.
Shortly before the interval, the 33-year-old player was seen lying on the field while holding his chest.
Medical staff hurriedly helped Aguero, who finally got up and slowly walked out of the field without help.
“I was told that he felt a bit dizzy.
I just learned that he was taken to the hospital and I couldn’t say more until I knew,” said Barcelona Guard Coach Sergi Barjuan.
