MUMBAI: at least five employees continued burn injuries following a series of explosions at a firecracker factory in Palghar district Dahanu taluka on Thursday morning.
The explosions happened in Vishal Fireworks situated at Dehane village.
The wounded were identified as Navneet Lote (32), Mahesh Much More (40), Asif Khan (32), respectively Premchand Chavan (25) along with Sukhdev Singh (50).
They’re being treated at hospitals in Dahanu and also Vapi in Gujarat.
Three fire engines achieved the place.
The origin of the fire is yet to be determined.
Dahanu MLA Vinod Nikole reported that the noise of the explosions can be heard five to six kilometres away in town.
Fire employees, authorities and district disaster management officials were not able to get into the place since the explosions lasted for a short time.
A enormous cloud of smoke generated panic in and about the village.
The Vangaon-Dahanu-Wada belt at the district has several firecracker factories and storage homes.
The usage of firecrackers during weddings is more uncontrolled at the tribally dominated regions of the district.
Tribals are known to explode crackers during funeral processions.
Sources said that a large part of the firecracker storage and units homes were not illegal.
Employees, including small children, work in these factories.
