Gurgaon: Collection of blood samples for the third round of serological surveys in Gurgaon concluded on Friday.
Officials say 3,000 samples taken from the city will be sent to Panchkula for tests and survey results will be stated within two weeks.
The Sero survey will show a percentage of populations that have developed antibodies against the SARS-COV-2 virus which causes Covid-19.
Children under the age of six are not part of this survey, officials said.
A total of 75 clusters were selected in Gurgaon made a sample size of 3,000.
There are 45 rustic clusters and 30 urban clusters throughout the city.
Of the 3,000 samples, a total of 1,800 adults over 18 years old, 900 samples were collected from participants between the ages of 10 and 17 years and 300 samples came from participants between the ages of 6 and 9 years selected.
Lab technicians collect 3ml blood samples from each participant.
Samples were collected in written approval from people to analyze the prevalence of antibodies against Covid.
This survey was conducted by 12 teams, each consisting of Lab Technicians, an Asha worker and field researcher.
“Samples collected were sent to Panchkula for analysis.
We hope to receive results after September 25,” said Dr.
Virender Yadav, Chief Medical Officer, Gurgaon.
In the first Sero survey, it was held in August 2020, a total of 850 samples were collected from 16 clusters.
Sero 10.8% positivity was reported in Gurgaon.
The second sero survey, conducted on October 2020, found that 16.5% of the city population had developed antibodies.
A total of 720 samples were collected from 16 clusters in the city (four were in urban areas and 12 in the countryside).
