Sero survey found more than 75% of Haryana’s population having covid antibodies

Gurgaon: About eight out of 10 people in Haryana, or 76.3% of the country’s population, have antibodies to SARS COV2 – Virus which causes Covid-19 – a third sero survey, which also has the largest sample size, has been found.
Gurgaon, the district that has reported most cases so far in Haryana, has a slightly better seropositivity with 78.3% of the population that has antibodies.
According to data released on Monday, seropositivity was 78% in urban areas and 75% in Haryana rural areas.
Kurukshetra, with 85%, has the highest seropositivity and Faridabad (64.2%) the lowest in the state.
However, in Faridabad, the survey will be carried out again.
“When 14% of the sample was found not convincing, we planned to conduct other sero surveys.
All samples were processed in the laboratory in Panchkula to ensure that the sample was treated uniformly,” said Minister of Health Anil VIJ.
Rohtak, meanwhile, has the second highest seropositivity with 84.6%, followed by Mahendergarh (81.6%), Panpat (81.5%), Noah (79.7%), Charchi Dadri (78.6%), Sonīpat (77.5%), Ambala (77.5%)), Palwal (77.5%), Jind (76.8%), fatehabad (75.4%), Karnal (75%), REWARI (74 , 8%), Panchkula (72.8%), Aperar (72.4%), SANSA (72.4%), YAMUNANAGAR (72.1%), Kaithal (71.5%), JHJJAR (70.8 %) and Bhiwani (69.7%).
A sero survey involves testing a group of individuals to monitor trends in the prevalence of infectious diseases.
Because of the high proportion of asymptomatic or light infections, data is only available for cases that are confirmed laboratories do not capture the spread of real Covid in the population.
Therefore, serological detection of specific antibodies to SARS COV-2 can better estimate the actual number of infections.
In the latest sero survey, a total of 36,520 samples were collected from 22 districts in various categories, including being fully vaccinated, which with the first dose, covid patients, those who did not report Covid infection and people who were not vaccinated.
In particular, among children between the ages of 6 and 9, the survey found a seropositivity of 69.8%.
It was 75.2% in children between 10 and 17 years.
Among people who were vaccinated, seropocytivity was 81.6%, which was reduced to 75.5% in a group that was not vaccinated.
People who have taken a vaccine dose have a 79.5% seropositivity and is fully vaccinated by 84%, according to the survey.
The seropocity between women (77%) was found higher than men (75.3%).
Rajeev Arora, ACS (Health), Haryana said, “This study was conducted in September.
About 2,200 health department officials were deployed in this study.
The relevant sampling technique of a multilevel layer ‘used and a total of 913 clusters was identified to collect 36,520 samples.
Next, each -Masing clusters are divided into four quadrants and 10 samples from each quadrant are collected by the field team.
In this sero survey, the children’s population above 6 years is also included in assessing immune levels in this vulnerable and unexpected cohort.
“Seropocytivity in Gurgaon urban areas are 80.3% and 77% in the rustic zone.
The prevalence of antibodies was slightly higher among women (78.8%) compared to men (77.8%) in the city too.
“People must be careful, especially during the current celebration season.
We urge people to vaccinate the earliest so we reach 85% seropositivity either through vaccination or naturally,” said Dr.
Virender Yadav, Chief Medical Officer, Gurgaon.
In the first Sero survey, which was conducted in August 2020, a total of 18,700 samples were collected in Haryana and Seroprevalence were at 8%.
In the second survey, 15,840 samples were collected and seroprevalensions were 14.8%.
