Gurgaon: The health department on Friday capped service charges for Covid-19 vaccination at camps outside private hospitals’ premises at Rs 250 per person for each shot.
For a Covaxin dose, the charges will be Rs 1,200 with a service charge of Rs 250, while it will be Rs 900 plus an additional charge of Rs 250 for a Covishield shot.
The move comes after the department received several complaints regarding overcharging by private hospitals in vaccination camps.
“We have got several complaints regarding discrepancies in service charges by private hospitals.
Thus, we decided to put a cap on pricing,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
On May 23, TOI had reported that some Gurgaon residents had complained to the health department that they have been overcharged for Covid vaccination by a private hospital.
Meanwhile, the district is planning to carry out a drive-through session for the 18-44 age group on Saturday at Mega City Mall along MG Road.
A total of 500 slots will be available at the site, where Covishield will be administered.
Gurgaon was allotted 1,500 Covishield doses and another 250 of Covaxin on Friday.
