Kochi: The total cases of Omicron in the country rose to 64 because four cases were reported in Pathanamthitta, two in Alappuzha and one in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
Two people who tested positively in Pathamthitta came from UAE while someone arrived from Ireland.
Another case is someone who is in the contact list of previous positive cases.
Positive cases in Alappuzha come from Italy and Qatar.
Someone who arrived from Tanzania was tested positively in Thiruvananthapuram.
All of these people are isolated in various hospitals in their respective districts.
The contact list of these people is being prepared and contacting people will also be tested and their samples will be sent to the genome sequencing.
Vaccination for Children: Health Minister Veena George said that steps were taken to begin vaccination among children between the ages of 15 and 18 years from January 3.
The vaccination center will now have separate facilities for these children.
The center has been directed to only provide covaxin for children in this age group.
