Coimbatore: The corporation on Saturday caught seven horse roaming and blocking traffic on the road in and around Selvapuram.
Animals are shifted to the temporary VOC zoo.
Animals will be handed over to the owner after collecting a fine when they claim to them, officials said.
Zoo officials will determine the number of penalties based on the number of animals and the reason for allowing animals to deviate, said a zoo official, adding that repetitive offenders will be made to cough more money compared to the first offenders.
Animals will be sent to shelter, if no one appears claiming them, the official added.
Offical corporation said the animals were confiscated after they received several complaints from motorists.
“Even though there were no casualties on accidents with animals involved recently, we decided to act on complaints and send a team to catch a horse bangs on the streets.
At the end of the day, the team could catch seven horses,” said an official Corporation.
