Chicago: Severe lightning storm sweeps the area of Chicago and North Illinois on Thursday morning with strong winds that leave thousands of homes and businesses without strength.
National weather services said some areas recorded a gusts of more than 60 mphs that knock down trees or crash into all trees, damaging several electrical lines.
Weather observer recorded a 64 mph wind at Dupage Airport in Dupage County around 3am, while the Chicago executive airport in Cook County has a 55 mph wind blowing.
Comed reports that more than 24,000 customers remain without power around 7:20 a.m.
The Illinois transportation department said several trees were overthrown in Waukegan before 4am, because the storm pushed across the area.
National weather services say “threatening life” The condition of swimming is expected on Thursday on Lake Michigan as a cold front of moving through the area, carrying cooler air.
According to the Beach Danger statement, waves 4 to 7 feet and RIP currents are estimated along the lake in Cook County and in Northwestern Indiana’s Lake, Counties Porter and Laporte until Friday night.
