Navi Mumbai: Three people from Murud have been arrested and 5kg ambergris, also called ‘Pope vomiting’, worth RS 5 Crore confiscated from them on Alibug-Murud Road and recently.
This substance has a drug value, used as an aphrodisiac and used to make perfume, police said.
The police received a tip-off that the man who was arrested – Darpan Gund (39), Rajendra Thakur (50), and Nandkumar Thorve (41) – came on Monday night to sell products that had a pleasant aroma.
Police Inspector Dayanand Gawade from Police Raigad said that the three men reached Kashid Village with two bicycles, with one of them carrying a gunny bag.
When the police lay waiting for their corners, the three tried to escape but Nabbed and the bag was confiscated.
