New Delhi: As many as 1.28 lakh cases of crime against children are registered by 2020, according to ‘crime in India 2020’ reports published by the National Crime Note Bureau (NCRB) on Tuesday.
The number of victims involved is close to 1.34 lakh.
Although the number of incidents reflects a decline of 13.5% of more than 1.48 lakh cases in 2019, the crime classification under different heads reflects how a large number of children are victims of cruel crime.
Kidnapping and kidnapping cases contributed 42.6% of all cases last year, followed by cases of sexual violations including rape of children under the protection of children from the Sexual Act (Pocso) at 38.8%.
The Pocso case contributed 35.5% from the total in 2019.
OS number violations under Pocso, related to the sexual attachment of penetrative sexual and prenetrative sexual assault, indicating that a total of 28,065 cases in this category, at 96% of cases alleged were a person known.
Of the 26,934 cases involving known people, the perpetrators are family members in 2,556 cases.
The age profile of victims of sexual violations in 2020 showed that 640 under six years, 2,540 between 6 and 12, as much as 11 to 16 and 14,118 between 16 and 18.
These include boys and girls.
NCRB data shows that in 2019 there was a 4.5% increase in the total number of crime cases against children in the previous year where 1,41,764 cases were registered.
In the percentage of provisions, Head of Great Crime During 2019 in the case of children was kidnapping & kidnapping (46.6%) and Pocso case (35.3%) included child rape.
