Thiruvananthapuram: Interstate sex trade gang operating in the city was arrested by Assam police on Friday.
They saved nine women from gangs and arrested two men.
Women and people accused of being held from two hotels that functioned under the limits of the Thampanoor and medical police station.
Police sources said that the defendant and the women came from Assam.
The Geng operandi mode will trap women from Assam and take them to the city for prostitution.
Police Assam has conducted an investigation to track gang members and arrest them.
Tracing cellphone signals from two gang members, the Assam police team reached the city.
The arrest was carried out with the help of the city police shadow police after the Assam team met the city police commissioner IG Balram Kumar Upadhyay and seek his help.
The people who were arrested and the saving women would be taken back to Assam after producing it before the local judge here, police said.
