Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police will register pine against media houses because they reveal the identity of a class XII girl who died of suicide on Thursday after being sexually harassed by his former teacher.
A police team was collecting details of print media, news channels, YouTube channels, and social media platforms that revealed the girl’s identity.
According to sources, this problem was brought to the knowledge of the judiciary, which suggested police to take the necessary actions against the media because they revealed the girl’s identity.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northern range) T Jayachandran said, “We will register the case below section 23 of the Pocso law against the media house to reveal the girl’s identity.” The 17-year-old girl hung her at her residence on Thursday night.
Police RS Puram All-Woman enrolled a case against his former teacher, Mithun Chakravarthy, 31, from Lawley Road to be suicidal and harassed him sexually.
The former Principal of Meera Jackson’s school was also arrested for failing to take action against Chakaravarthy after receiving a complaint against him from the girl.
