Thiruvananthapuram: The police have given a clean chats to the Kerala Kaseendran forest minister related to allegations that he had tried to resolve the case of sexual abuse, said there was no violation he had done.
A police deputy supervisor, who conducted a preliminary investigation into a complaint submitted by a Muslim Youth League leader, has submitted a report to the Chairman of the Kollam District Police, stating that no further steps need to be taken against the seasendran on charges against him.
The report, also based on legal advice provided by the government’s applicant, has said that the minister, during his short telephone talks with the father of the suspected victim, just told him to “resolve this case in the right way” and it was not the same as coercion.
In addition, the minister did not mention the alleged name of the victim or made a statement against him during the conversation.
Saseendran, a NCP leader, also did not use any word to intimidate the alleged victim to persuade him to attract the petition filed against one of his party’s colleagues, who was suspected of trying to attack him sexually, he said.
A copy of the report leaked to the media on Wednesday.
The state has witnessed protests by Congress workers and BJP, demanding Sasendran’s resignation after the victim gave a statement to the police in Kollam District, accusing the minister to try to resolve cases against NCP leaders.
When this problem was raised in the State Assembly by the Opposition Congress, Chairman of the Pinarayi Minister Vijayan had defended the minister.
“The complainant and defendant in this case are NCP party workers.
The minister has explained, that as party leader, he only asked about the disputes between two-party workers,” Vijayan said.
UDF’s opposition accused that it was clear through the audio clip of Seasendran conversation with the alleged victim’s father, which was aired in the media, that the minister disrupted the investigation.
The minister, instead of supporting the victim, tried to influence his father, opposition said.
