Trichy: A professor associate, who was accused of sexually harassed the graduate of the Saster of Bishop of Heber College in Trichy was arrested on Wednesday after filing a complaint from the District Administrative Facts Committee investigating the incident.
All female police stations (AWP), Srirangam, arrested the Head of the Tamil literary department, CJ Paul Chandramohan, with various charges including saying words and obscene acts that intend to insult the simplicity of women, under the abuse of IPC and Tamil Nadu Female Act 1998.
Allegedly using a double entender to explain subjects to MA Tamil’s literary female students during their offline class in February.
After his arrest, the Associate Professor was questioned by the police before being produced in the district court which stopped him in the trial detention.
It was the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) and Secretary of the Facts Committee member, Thamimmunisha, who filed a complaint.
Previously, acting based on complaints from five students, the college conducted an investigation through the Seven Member Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and placed the Associate Professor under the suspension on June 30 to find evidence of the prime facie against it.
A few days after this, the district administration took the awareness of Suo Motu about this problem and formed a committee to find facts to take legal action against him.
