Ranchi: Delegation of all parties from Jharkhand led by the Chairman of the State of the Minister of Hemant Soren met with Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah on Sunday to demand a caste-based census.
Delegation, however, did not submit a request for a separate column for Sarna Religion in training.
Then, the delegation returned empty-handed because Shah indicated that the center did not want to apply requests and also quoted administrative difficulties.
CM delegation includes representatives of the powerful alliance partners, Congress and RJD along with BJP opposition, other parties such as CPI (ML), CPI and CPM.
The BJP State Unit, which was previously rejected to be part of the delegation, took its u-turn and its president, Deepak Prakash, joined the group in an effort to keep the voting bank in humor.
Sudesh Mahto, BJP’s President Nda Ally, the Ajsu Party, could not join the delegation when he reached New Delhi late.
During the meeting, which lasted 30 minutes above tea and ice cream, Soren handed over Shah Memorandum four pages that advocated the need for the caste census.
Chasing the central decision not to do it as a very unfortunate, memorandum confirming the need for surveys, saying that it will help in providing reservations to people from classes back and will explain socio-economic gap in the community.
“Policy makers will be able to compile better welfare blueprints that will help lift people from the back.
This will also help in forming a special commission for social retreat, which has been mandated in the Constitution,” Read Memorandum.
After the meeting, Soren said in New Delhi, “We have passed the resolution at Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha who supported the caste-based census (on September 9).
We share state sentiment on this problem with the minister of sanity.” Talk to TOI by telephone, Alamgir Alam , Minister of Rural Development of the State and Congress leader, who is part of the delegation, said, “Shah stressed that it was difficult and complicated to conduct a caste-based census.
He was not convincing to reconsider the central booth that it would continue with the census without headcount based on caste.
“The Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur said that since the center had not fulfilled the demands of delegates, all the same-minded parties would curl up in Ranchi and decide on future actions.
“The census is a central subject and the state government has no role in it.
We have asked the Union Minister to review his government stand and we will wait and see what is being done.
After Agraha (request), we will take Satyagraha,” said Thakur to Toi.
The role of the delegation, however, raised a lot of eyebrows after that did not mention demand for separate columns for Sarna in the census, the resolution was passed by Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha in November last year.
“The request was eliminated after several political parties in the delegation revealed their reservation for it.
CM will lead another delegation from social organizations about this problem soon,” Senior members in JMM leadership told TII on anonymity.
