VARANATION: Varanasi craftsmen have prepared beautiful handmade artifacts to be presented to the BUTUN minister Union Amit Shah and Chair of Yogi Adityanath minister during their visit to Vindhyachal in Mirzapur on Sunday.
Shah visited Vindhyachal to put the foundation stone from the proposed vindhyachal corridor project.
“Two artifacts – steal and mento embroidery from metal repouse – certified with geographical indications (GI) of this region,” said Gi Expert Dr.

This artifact has been submitted to the commissioner of the Vindhyachal Division of Yogeshwar Ram Mishra.

“This region consists of Varanasi, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Azamgarh has a credit to offer many Tagged GI products,” Kant said, added that some other items were in the pipe to get GI certification.
About 20 lakh people involved in this craft made an annual turnover around Rs 22,500 Crore, which he claims.
According to him, so far 12 Eastern Up products have received GI tags, while five other products will soon get a certificate.
Items, which have received GI tags including Brocade and Sari banarasi, Bhadohi handmade carpets, Mirzapur Handmade Durri, Varanasi Lacquerware and wooden toys, Banaras Metal Repouse Works, Banaras Gulabi Meenakari (Pink Enameling), Varanasi Stone Soft Jali, Nizamabad Pottery Black, Hanging Ghazipur Wall, Varanasi Glass Beads, Chunar Balua Pathar (Sand Batu) and Gorakhpur Terracotta.
Five items include Zardozi Craft Varanasi, Banaras Hand Block Print, Mirzapur Pital Bartan (Kuningan Ware) and Glazed Chunar pottery will receive a GI certificate immediately.
In addition, the GI certificate application for four other products including Langada Mango’s banarasi, Banarai Paan (Bethel) Leaf, Adamchni Chawal (Rice) and Ramnagar Bhanta (Brinjal) has been submitted during the Pandemic Period.
Local craftsmen also prepared a newly built wood miniature ‘Rudraksha’ -Varasi international cooperation and convention center, and stealing raised beads in the middle of the beautiful work of Zardozi for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated and put the foundation of development projects on Varanasi.
