Dhaka: Bangladesh All-Rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out from the Twenty20 World Cup with a hamstring injury, the country’s cricket board said on Sunday.
“Shakib sustained the bottom left hamstring tension while deploying during the match against West Indies,” Tim doctor, Debashis Chowdhury, said in a statement.
“He was ruled out from participation in the last two tournament matches and until further reviews.” Bangladesh lost to West Indies with three runs in Sharjah on Friday.
It was the third consecutive defeat in as many matches in the Super 12 phase, which effectively ended their chances to qualify for the semi-finals.
Shakib, the top all-rounder in the rank of T20i men, is a man-of-the-match in two Bangladesh victories over Oman and Papua New Guinea in the qualifying round.
The Bangladesh cricket board said it would not call Shakib’s replacement.
Bangladesh faces South Africa in the next match on November 2.
