Mumbai: The police have arrested a fake doctor and his assistant from Pune for allegedly deceiving a 73-year-old woman based in Mumbai, who had paid Rs 2 lakh to him for the treatment of his knee pain, said an official said on Sunday.
The defendant, Hanis Abdul Hamid Sheikh, aka Dr.
Malik (44) and his assistant Zahid Salim Hussain, was arrested from Kondhwa locality in Pune on Friday, he said.
“In December last year, the complainants had approached the police by saying that Dr.
Malik had taken the RS two lakh from him, assuring that he would treat his knee pain.
However, despite what is called treatment, he continues to feel his pain.

After the probe, it was found that Sheikh was a fake doctor, after FIR who was registered against him and he was arrested along with his assistant, he said.
He has committed a similar crime in the past, police said.
The captured Duo was ordered under various parts of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC), including 420 (cheating) and further investigation into underway, officials added.
