LONDON: Canada Denis Shapovalov produced the final result which invaded to defeat Karen Khachhanov in five sets and reached the Wimbledon semifinal on Wednesday, the deepest run in the grand slam tournament.
The quarter-finals seemed to slip from the stylish left 22-year hander when he trailed two sets for one but he returned to win 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.
Shapovalov, who extinguished twice the winner of Andy Murray in the third round, will play the last defending champion and Novak Djokovic on Friday when he will bid to become only the second Canadian man to reach the grand slam final.
Both the 10th seed Shapovalov and 25th seed Khachhanov played in the grand slam quarter-finals only for the second time and they delivered an extraordinary contest in court No.1 packaged.
Shapovalov brought the form shown in the hammer of the fourth racer Robert Bautista Agut into the second career clash with Khachhanov and took the opening set of one break in the match.
But Khachhanov rock-solid responded forward 4-0 in the second set and although Shapovalov focus back was too late to save the set.

He hung grimly, scrambling out of the hole when he fell 0-40 served 2-2.
Shapovalov piled up on pressure again at 4-4 and saw three break points away begging before Khachhanov sent forehand that looked tired in the fourth.
Serving for the biggest victory in his career, Shapovalov overcomes a complete double error and raises two match points with the Winner of Forehand, before sealing victory when Khachhanov throws backhand to the internet.
