Even if you want to share aadhaar cards as proof ID, you always have the option not to disclose your Aadhaar card number using the virtual ID ‘Masked Aadhaar’ or 16 digit (VID).

What did Aadhaar dedopped? The Aadhaar Mask option allows users to hide their Aadhaar numbers in the e-aadhaar copy that you downloaded.
The masked Aadhaar number will replace the first 8 digit aadhaar number with several characters by crossing “xxxx-xxxx” while making the last 4 digits of the aadhaar number visible.
Why do you have to use masked Aadhaar? Aadhaar is valid masked and is widely accepted so you don’t have to be fooled to believe that it’s not authentic and acceptable.
By using this as proof of ID is much safer than an ordinary aadhaar card because it reduces the distribution of your aadhaar number and therefore the risk is misused by also shrinking.
