Mumbai: Six months after being immunized with both doses, Resident Kandivli Sharadchandra Shenoy (63) surrendered to Pneumonia Covid-19 in October.
The 63-year-old child, who had a history of hypertension and diabetes, struggled against a virus infection for 13 days in the hospital.
The family is still looking for answers, said his brother, Dr.
Satanhchandra Shenoy, a family doctor.
While Covid-19’s death in Mumbai continued to see a steady decline for months, the proportion of senior citizens in death, which was far away after the communization began, increased once more and approached the pre-vaccination level.
Experts said the trend demanded the study of the attenuation of the level of antibodies, the debate was urgent at the third dose for vulnerable populations and comorbidity analysis, reported Sumitra Deb Roy.
‘Elder will take into account the majority of the toll because comorbidity data shows that senior citizens contributed 76% of Covid deaths in January, 84% in February and 80% in March.
When vaccination was opened for the elderly in March, their death part fell to 65% in April, while people between 40-60 years touched 30%, up from 14% in March (see Graph).
But in September and October, their proportions rose to 79% and 80%, almost like pre-vaccinated months.
Dr Avinash Supe, who heads the Covid-19 Mumbai death audit committee, underlines that vaccination has reduced the number of deaths.
“But, a small collection of deaths is likely to be there, and senior citizens will take into account the share of lions because of comorbidity.” The majority of Covid’s death in Mumbai is currently among people who are not vaccinated and vulnerable, such as senior citizens with comorbidity and those who do not have adequate antibody production after vaccination.
BMC data shows that 75% to 82% of covid victims have one or other comorbidities, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart or kidney conditions.
From the peak of 1,475 and 1,723 deaths registered in April and May, Mumbai Toll Road fell to 134 in September and 137 in October, Dr.
Supe said, adding it mainly due to vaccination.

Rahul Pandit, Intensivist and members of the Covid State Task Force.
But, he argues that discussions about booster shots for senior citizens must begin now.
BMC has been seeking the opinion of the task force on this problem, said Suresh Kakani, commissioner of additional municipality.
