Dubai: South Gulf Emirate Sharjah announced a shift to a three-day weekend for the official sector.
The move took place after the United Arab Emirates said on Tuesday it was cut off the official week of four and a half days and moved his weekend to Saturday and Sunday.
One step further, the Sharjah Executive Board said his decision was taken “in line with the UAE’s vision to increase its competitive position”.
Working week for Sharjah Government Institutions must be reduced to Monday to Thursday, and weekends will run between Friday and Sunday.
Switch, which will begin on January 1, will “support the business environment and market economy, and offset global development”.
While being the only Gulf country that does not have a Friday-Saturday weekend, UAE is rich in resources and ambitious now in line with the non-Arab world.
