Gurgaon: Prison at city bus services, after falling nearly 70% in May, has bounced almost returning to the pre-locking number this year.
In accordance with data published by Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL), daily passengers are recorded at 25,461 on April 24.
At the age of May 24, the number fell to 7,833 before rising again in June.
On June 24, as many as 25,843 people took advantage of this service.
In terms of income, GMCBL generated revenue of RS 3,63,436 on April 24, but the number decreased by around 70% on May 24 when it produced Rs 1,08,439.
However, daily income on June 24 touched Rs 3,64,034 – slightly higher than pre-locking numbers.
According to GMCBL officials, passengers have fallen substantially due to second covid waves.
However, with a new route is being revived, the number now sees an increase.
On Tuesday, city bus services launched a new route – number route 111g – which will start in the 55/56 sector metro station and go to Mayfield Garden and Nirvana Country.
The numbers, however, are still far lower than the numbers before the plague of pandemic.
City bus services continue to fight steeply losses, according to sources in GMCBL.
At present, the bus runs half their capacity, which is said to be another reason behind lower passenger numbers.
According to data, bus services saw 22,41,156 passengers in January this year.
In February, there were 24,49,233 passengers.
The amount fell to 16.04.869 in March due to the second wave.
GMCBL has lost 8.75 crore in revenue for the past four months due to the suspension of services, RTI answers have revealed.
“We face steep losses.
However, we take steps to combat losses,” said the source requesting anonymity.
The government has decided to assign several buses to Faridabad.
Other steps, including changes in routes to increase passengers, are also taken regularly.
The state government has approved the violability gap fund.
The funds should be transferred from MCG, HSIINC and GMDA.
While GMDA has transferred 50% of funds, GMCBL has not received the remaining amount.
Toi tries to reach the CEO of GMCBL Anju Choudhary and GMCBL CFO several times for questions about this problem, but all messages and calls remain missed.
