For the first time, the Indian Film Festival Melbourne (IFFM) respected the short film ‘Sheer Qorma’, directed by Faraz Arif Ansari with equality at Cinema Award.

In his reception speech, Faraz said, “Growing as a strange brown child in India, we are often told that our dreams must be limited because of their limited opportunities.
However, my mother always reminds me of a big dream.
And I often ask her, ‘Mumma what if I fall ? ‘ But he said, ‘What if you fly?’ And I fly today because my mother.
My film ‘Sheer Qorma’ is dedicated to my mother and all moms out there.

Faraz also made a lasting impression by saying, “There are 33 filmmakers and producers of women at the festival but there are also non-binary filmmakers here too.
The future is a woman, weird, non-binary and inclusive.”
He also thanked Shabana Azmi, Swara Bhasker and Divya Dutta and the entire film team and IFFM to support the film celebrating love and equality.
It is interesting to note that a few weeks ago, ‘Sheer Qorma’ was being polished online by people who disagreed with the film’s storyline.
Some also assess low films on the film database site.
However, globally, short films have been very well done, collecting support, awards and awards.
Faraz said, “To make films and especially films that talk about love and reception are very difficult today considering the global scenario.
And to overcome it, this is a film about strange people.
All of my protagonists are women – so basically these are all minorities at Minority.
But what’s the journey.
Getting this special recognition feels great.
