New Delhi: Chairman of the Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh on Monday appealed to farmers to divert their protests from the country if they wanted to put pressure at the center.
By asserting that the congress stood with farmer agitation on agricultural laws at each stage, Amarinder said the development of the country was hampered by protest.
“I want to tell Punjab farmers that this is their land.
The protests of those who are taking place here are not in the interests of the state.
Instead of protests in the state, farmers must bend pressure on the agricultural center to get agricultural law,” Amarinder said.
It came a day after Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote to the minister’s chairman, seeking actions against the demands of farmers including the cancellation of the “unfair” fire that enrolled against farmers during agitation.
In a letter to CM, Sidhu wrote, “This is to pay attention and request the necessary actions, for the demands submitted by 32 farmer unions at the meeting.” Sidhu said farmers’ leaders demanded “unfair and unfair fire cancellation” register farmer unions because of cases of violence during agitation in the state.
