Shifting from imports, India now exported a cellphone worth $ 3 BN: PM

New Delhi: India used to import mobile phones worth $ 8 billion seven years ago and now this country exported the device worth $ 3 billion while reducing imports significantly, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
Overcoming the nation from the red fortress on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day in India, Modi said the government had announced the incentive scheme related to production to advance the leading mission of ‘Make In India’.
“The electronic manufacturing sector is an example of changes brought by the scheme.
Seven years ago we used cellular phones of around $ 8 billion.
Now imports have been reduced.
Today, we exported a cellphone worth $ 3 billion,” he said.
The Electronic Ministry and has cleared 16 proposals from domestic and international companies which require RS 148 billion investment under the incentives related to production (PLI) for global majors and domestic companies.
The Prime Minister said as the country’s manufacturing sector advanced, “we must focus on making the best quality products that can stand in the global market”.
“We must target the global market.

This temperament is needed,” said Modi.
He said that thousands of start-ups have emerged during a difficult period of Corona and start-up into Unicorn.
