Shiradi Ghat Closure: MLC Appeal to CM to Speed Up Work, Minister PWD Cites Technical Reports

Mangaluru: While MLC Macarth Bhandary was just written to the main Minister of Basavaraj Bommai to reconsider the closure proposed by Jalan Shiradi Ghat for six months, Minister PWD C Patil said on Monday that they had received a technical report for the closure of the Shiradi Ghat for six months for six months For repair work, but ensure that steps will be taken to accelerate work to minimize the inconvenience for the public.
Union Minister of Bhandery Union Nitin Gadkari has stated that India holds a world record for the construction of the fastest road and shows that in 2006, for Shravanabelaga Mahamastakabhisheka, 100 KM road work was carried out in just 90 days, wondering what prevented the authorities complete 10 kms of work Road in a shorter range.
Bhhandary said Shiradi Ghat Road, connecting the coast to the capital on the national highway 75, is the life lane of the coast of Karnataka with a large business and industrial company in this region such as MrPL, the MCF along with the new Mangalore port completely depends on its functions.
He said the proposed closure of Shiradi Ghat Road for six months will cause great discomfort for people from all parts and in the majority inhibit the trade and industry activities of this region.
He remembered that before when Shiradi Ghat Road was closed for six months twice, it caused great discomfort.
So, he has asked CM to direct the caring officials to complete road work in a short time.
To achieve this, Bhandery suggested a methodical planning work strategy with the help of experts, using machines, technology, and modern materials to build roads, start working on several points simultaneously and also to make adequate material and labor settings.
The Ghat section is around 100 km from Mangaluru and connects Sakleshpur which is 35 km from the Border of Dakshina Kannada.
Even stakeholders, including the association of truck owners and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, have expressed concern over the complete closure of Shiradi Ghat for repairs to work for six months.
They have notified Deputy Commissioner K v Rajendra that Ghat’s closure for six months as part of the repair work will paralyze the transportation sector and urge the authorities to implement the work model and allow vehicle movement – one direction.
Other options require a trip through Uttara Kannada – Hubballi, which is an additional 200 km to Bengaluru.
