Shirur: GENG seizes cash, gold worth RS 1.8CR from the bank

Pune: Six gangs, two of them are armed with a gun, blown to the Pimparkhed Bank of Maharashtra branch in Shirur Taluka, about 80 km from here, around 1pm on Thursday.
The gang robbed cash and gold fully worth RS1.83 Crore after threatening bank managers and cashiers.
The suspects reached the bank at the blue sedan and went to Ahmednagar after collecting booty, the officer said from Pune Rural Colid said.
The ban including RS33 lakh cash, and gold has so far been rated at RS1.50 Crore.
Bank officials are still in the process of assessing robbing gold, which can encourage booty values, police said.
One member of the gang waited in the car while the other proceeded towards the bank.
One of them stood at the entrance while four others moved to collect booty, said the police quoted the evidence collected through CCTV footage.
Five staff have reported assignments on Thursday.
Three of them were having lunch breaks, with only managers and cashiers inside when the hospitality came, added the police.
Late on Thursday night, Bank Cashier Sagar Panmand submitted a complaint with police Shirur and the case below Section 395 (Dacoity) from the registered Indian criminal code.
Rural Police Supervisors Pune Abhinav Deshmukh told Tii, “The gang carried Dako in 30 minutes.
The five men who approach the bank wear hoodies and masks.
Two of them carry a gun.
Four men walk inside and threaten bank managers and cashiers, asking them to Remove all cash and gold from the safe.
“Deshmukh said the manager and cashier did not oppose armed intruders when they were detained at Gu Shop.
“The intruders collected cash and gold and walked out of the bank,” Dishmukh said.
Deshmukh said the bank did not have a guard and there was a security alarm.
However, officials were very frightened so they failed to press the bell alarm button.
“Doing a situation, we suspect that armed men might have reserved from where the bank before conducting dacoity.
They chose the time when the bank did not have customers and the bank staff went to lunch,” he said.
