New Delhi: HCL Technologies on Monday said the founder Shiv Nadar will take the role of Emeritus’s chairman and strategic adviser to the company’s board.
Nadar, head of strategy officer and company implementing director, to complete the age of 76 years, has submitted his resignation as MD and the Director with the effects of the closing of the working hours on July 19, according to regulations.
“To continue to benefit from his extensive knowledge, experience, and wisdom in the role of advisors, the Board of Directors in his meeting was held today, after considering the recommendations of the Nomination & Remuneration Committee, approved the appointment of Shri Shiv Nadar.

Payment of remuneration or providing any facilities under this role will submit to the approval of shareholders.
The company has appointed C Vijayakumar – President and CEO of the company – as an executive director with the title CEO and MD for five years with the effect of July 20, he added.
In July last year, Nadar had resigned from the role of his chairman and daughter, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, replaced him.
Roshni is the first woman to lead an Indian company registered.
Shiv Nadar is a pioneer of computing and IT industry in India.
In 1976, he established a HCL group that began as a technology hardware company, which produced the country’s first customary computer and then evolved into a more comprehensive software organization.
Under the nadar leadership, HCL is credited with the first IT product innovation for the first 8-bit microprocessor-based computer in 1978 and a fine-grained multi-processor installation in the world in 1989, among others.
HCL plays a key role in supporting the Indian telecommunications revolution through the creation of the largest cellular distribution network with Nokia.
In 1994, he established a philanthropic organization, the Shiv Nadar Foundation.
On March 20, 2021, the Shiv Nadar Foundation has invested around $ 988 million to create a transformational educational institution that maintains the next generation of Indian leaders.
In submission of separate regulations, HCL Technologies said it had appointed former IBM executive, Vanitha Narayanan, to the Board of Directors.
Narayanan, as an additional director on the Board, will hold an office as an independent director.
His appointment was effective July 19.
In 2020, Vanitha retired after a career covering three decades at IBM where he held several major roles that lead large businesses in geography such as us, Asia-Pacific and India.
This role includes serving as Managing Director and IBM Chairman of India and other leadership positions in the global communication and telecommunications industry.
