Surat: Shiv Sena on Tuesday won its first Lok Sabha seat outside Maharashtra after Kalaben Delkar, the widow of the former Mohan Delkar lawmaker, won the Bypoll for the Constituency of Dadra & Nagar Haveli with more than 50,000 votes.
The selection of by-wrection was needed after Delkar committed suicide at Mumbai Hotel in February.
Kalaben and his son then joined Shiv Sena who offered him a ticket for DNH.
Kalaben surveyed nearly 59.51% (1,16,834 votes) of the total sound and won by a margin of nearly 51,000 votes, defeating BJP rival Mahesh Gavit.
This is the highest victory margin in the DNH poll.
“I thank everyone from the election for the sentiment they have pointed to the deceased my husband and instilling their trust in me.
I will try our best to fulfill this belief,” said the 50-year-old person after the results.
Even when the leaders of Sena Sena include Sanjay Raut and the others camped in DNH, Kalaben made a spectacular selection robbery riding a wave of sympathy considering the popularity of her husband’s deceased who had scored this record seven times.
“The first step outside Maharashtra, a giant leap towards Delhi through Dadra Nagar Haveli!,” Raut, spokesman for Shiv Sena tweeted.
“I congratulate the Delkar Kalaben for winning the election.
We will analyze the results and see what needs to be done,” said Gavit, the former district of Panchayat vice president and former police.
Meanwhile, the performance of the election of poor congress continued with his candidate Mahesh Dhodi lost his deposit.
BJP also also involved a star campaigner including Smriti Irani, former Head of Maharashtra Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Manoj Tiwari, Parshottam Rupala, Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Mohan Delkar committed suicide at the Sea Green Hotel in Marine Drive, leaving a 15-page suicide note where he was suspected of named Daman, DIU and DNH administrators, Putles and other officials for sustainable harassment.
