Coimbatore: Most of the shop owners lowered the window leaves at 5pm, expanding full cooperation with new Covid-19 prevention steps in the district administration, which came into force on Tuesday.
Police personnel ensure that shops – both bakeries or grocery stores, vegetables or tea shops – not open after the deadline is permitted.
However, several stores in residential areas are open until 5.30pm to 6pm.
Meat shops and fish stalls are closed at 2:00 p.m.
as mandated by the district administration.
The bus terminal was filled with far earlier that day, compared to the previous days, when people left home before because of new guidelines.
Some people, who reached tourist attractions in the district, were not aware of new sidewalks.
They go with a long face.
Residents welcome strict steps, which they hope will help the authority control the Covid-19 case and avoid the total locking.
G Pazhani, a resident of Ganapathy Pudur, said he had kept the essence and other items in view of new restrictions.
“It’s better to live with a strict sidewalk than facing a total lock, which will paralyze trade activities and livelihoods of a number of people.
Officials must ensure that the rules are followed to prevent other waves.” However, the new rules do not go down with trader parts.
In a petition to the corporate commissioner King Gopal Sunkara, Dinesh Kumar Bhandia, a trader, said small traders did not have financial support to meet employee salaries and building rentals.
When online businesses have taken over sales, he said, they find it difficult to survive.
Commissioner of City Corporation, meanwhile, warned strict action traders if they failed to obey restrictions at meetings that saw membership participation from trading agencies, actors, owners of the cottage, vegetable vendors, textile shop owners and jewelry.
He said it was the responsibility of traders to ensure that their customers wore face masks.
“The shopkeeper must be obliged to use a face mask.
Hand sanitis must be stored in front of each store and must be ensured that customers use the same.”
