New Delhi: When the election commission prepares assembly elections in five states early next year, the top brass is scheduled to interact with Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Monday.
The Commission tends to look for updates from Bhushan in the Covid-19 situation and the emergence of Omicron, the new Coronavirus variant, the source said on Sunday.
The provisions of the Goa legislature, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Manipur ended at a different date in March next year while the assembly period at Uttar Pradesh will end in May.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the date of election next month.
The commission can also look for advice from Bhushan on the increase in the Covid-19 protocol for poll campaigns, voting days and calculation dates.
On Tuesday, the commissioner of the main election and fellow election commissioners was scheduled to visit Uttar Pradesh to take stock of poll preparedness in the state.
The Commission has visited Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand as part of pre-poll stock exercises.
