Nagpur: Food Business Operator (FBO) is set to face actions well until RS2 lakh or more and even cancelences permission if they fail to mention 14 digit registration numbers / registration issued by food standards and Indian Safety Authorities (FSSAI) on the bill, receipt and their invoice.
Rules have been enforced throughout India from January 1 this year.
Food and Narcotics Administration (FDA), Nagpur, arranged to start the drive to ensure the implementation of FSSAI’s new guidelines.
Violators will face actions under the security law and food standards, 2006.
According to the FDA Assistant Commissioner (Food), Abhay Deshpande, “First violations can cause fines to RS2 Lakh, while the subtle amount will multiply for further violations.
Third violation Can cause cancellation of licenses / registration.
“The rule applies to all food business operators including manufacturers, distributors, stockists, retailers and other restaurant owners, hotels and outlets that sell food, he said.
Deshpande said FSSAI previously made a mandatory license and registration number on the food label, which was the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Now the others in the chain must also print them on their receipts and invoices, he said.
“New guidelines will enable consumers to report low-quality products to the authorities that lead to actions against the perpetrators.
With registration numbers / licenses, one can track manufacturers, distributors, stokists, retailers and outlet owners with the details of their business, location and office address company, “he said.
Deshpande said before tracking the manufacturer from the food label was easy, but now anyone from the supply chain can be easily tracked from a 14 digit print / registration number on the bill or invoice.
