Shuttler Tasnim First India to claim the number 1 world status in U-19 Girls Singles

New Delhi: Shuttler Young Tasnim Mir on Wednesday became the first Indian to reach the world number 1 in Single 31 girls in the latest Junior BWF rank.
The 16-year-old from Gujarat was appreciated for Stellar Run last year when he secured a title in three international junior tournaments to jump three places to take the top position in the junior world rank.
“I can’t say that I expected this.
I thought I would not be a number 1 because the tournament was influenced by Covid-19 but I won three events in Bulgaria, France and Belgium.
So I’m really excited and happy.
That’s finally I can Being the world no 1.
This is a great moment for me, “Tasnim told PTI from Guwahati.
“I will be fully focused on the senior circuit from now on and I hope to play in Iran and Uganda next month.
My goal now is to increase my senior ranking.
If I can weave some good shows and enter the top 200 by the end of the year.

“Tasnim, which is supported by OGQ, is currently ranked 602 on women’s singles.
The achievements of Tasnim have never been achieved by any Indian girl, including the two-time Olympic medalist P v Sindhu and London Bronze Winner Saina Nehwal.
While Sindhu is World No.
2 in the age of 19 days, Saina does not make pieces to become a junior with Junior BWF starting in 2011.
Other Indian Samiya Imad Farooqui from Telangana is close to but can only reach second place.

In boys, Lakshya Sen, Siril Verma and Aditya Joshi have become the world no 1.
Tasnim is part of the Indian campaign in Thomas and the Uber Cup which was held at the end of last year in Denmark and said it had a big impact on the game.

Tasnim has been training under Indonesian coach Edwin Iriawan at Assam Badminton Academy in Guwahati for the past four years.

Tasnim got his first lesson at Badminton from his father Irfan Mir, who was a badminton coach and also breast milk at Mehsana police.
“My father is a badminton coach and also works for Mehsana police.
He is always interested in sports and used to take me with him when I was around 7-8 years old,” he said.

At the 2019 World Junior Championship in Russia, he could not pass round 32 but returned to win the title in the Asian Junior Championship -17 & U-15 in the same year in Indonesia.
He also appeared to win at the President Cup Nepal Junior International Series 2020 in Kathmandu.
“I need to work on my stamina and my mental aspects of my game, which will play a big role.
I have trust in my shot but it is important to focus on my mind,” he signed.
