Siblings fell into the pond while fishing, sank

Coimbatore: Two school students, who are siblings, sank in the rock mine pool left behind at Golden Nagar in Tirupur on Wednesday while fishing.
North Tirupur police said Sathya was 13 years old and his 11-year-old sister kumanan, both government school students, on Wednesday went to the stone mine pool near their home after studying to catch fish with their parents’ permits.
When the children did not return home after falling dark, said a police officer, their parents and neighbors went looking for them.
After a short search, the officer said, they found the cycle and clothing of boys left outside the rock pool.
Suspecting that children might sink, they warned fire and rescue service personnel, who rushed to the place and took the bodies of boys.
Police Tirupur North has registered an accidental sinking case.
“The children might fall into the pool while taking off or changing fishing bait,” the officer said.
