Patna: In what can be a big relief, the air quality index of Patna (AQI) increases from the “satisfying” level to “good” in the last 24 hours.
For the first time in August, Aqi City was recorded at 38, which fell in the “good” category, on Monday.
On Sundays, Aqi in City was recorded at 84 with data available on the Central Polution Control Agency (CPCB) website.
In August, there were 27 days aqi “satisfying”, two days “moderate” and “good” day in the city.
Aqi in all regions that have a sustainable ambient air quality monitoring station is ‘good’ on Monday – DRM Office-Khagaul (30), Eco Park (32), SK Memorial Hall (34), Patna City (45) and Bit- Intimate (49).
Aqi between 0-50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfying”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very bad” and 401-500 “severe”.
Above 500 is a “severe-plus or emergency” category.
The “very poor” situation can cause respiratory diseases in prolonged exposure.
Naveen Kumar, a scientist and environmental analyst at the Bihar District Pollution Control Board (BSPCB), said the city witnessed good water day due to a small number of vehicles on the road because of Janmashtami and climate conditions.
“These are the two main reasons behind the fall at the AQI Patna level.
As far as the wind speed, it was the same as yesterday.
Air quality is expected to remain satisfying for a few more days due to beneficial meteorological conditions,” he said.
Kumar added, “Between October and January, air quality will deteriorate in the poor, very bad category and even severe.
Bihar’s geographical location is a major factor for poor air quality during winter.
Other climate factors such as thermal inversion can cause poor air quality .
“The air quality warning system from the Ministry of Early Sciences has estimated that the whole Aqi Patna will witness a slight increase on Wednesday due to climate conditions.
However, will return to see a drastic increase on September 1 due to changes in the wind.
