New York: In the case of suspicion of racial crimes, an Indian Sikh taxi driver in the US has been attacked by an unknown man, who knocked down his turban and also used harsh words to him outside the JFK international airport, according to a video on social media.
The 26 second clip that was not dated uploaded by Navjot Pal Kaur on Twitter on January 4, showed a man attacking the driver outside the airport.
He said the video was shot by an observer.
The person can be heard allegedly abuse the victim and repeatedly punched him.
He then knocked down his turban.
“I don’t have the right to this video.
But I just want to highlight the fact that hatred continues to remain in our society,” Kaur tweeted.
The next details about the driver or incident are not available.
The video caused an angry reaction by community members.
“I can’t say what it means to have your turban is fascinated.
It’s guting gut,” Simran Jeet Singh, Director for American Project Inclusive Aspen Inclusive, tweeted.
The National Sikh campaign said, “We are only a few days to a new year and there are racial crimes against Sikh”.
