Silverline: a social impact study that will be carried out in Kannur

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has issued a notification to conduct a social impact assessment ahead of land acquisition in Kannur Regency for the proposed silverline project.
The Kannur district has been chosen because the alignment process has been completed in this district.
According to the notification, the social impact assessment will be completed in 100 days.
The state government has identified 106.2 hectares for projects in this district.
The district will have 61.7 km stretch silverline of a total of 530km across the state.
Assessment will include 19 villages in Taluk Kannur, Payyanur and Thalassery.
The social impact study will include the number of families that must be rehabilitated, government regions and private land that must be obtained, the number of houses and buildings that must be obtained, the size of the land covering the project in this district, etc., will be assessed.
The costs needed for rehabilitation will also be worked as part of this study.
It will also see the difficulties that people must face with the acquisition of land or their nature and how their livelihoods will be affected.
It is very interesting to note that the state government has decided to start a social impact study in the midst of all the opposition to this project, from the Kannur Regency itself, which is considered Heartland Marxis and Turf of the Head of Pinarayani Minister Vijayan.
The state government urges the center to provide its kind for projects as a budget allocation in the next Union budget.
Both the minister of Pinarayi Vijayan and Minister of Finance KN Balagopal made this request to the Minister of Finance Union Nirmala Sitchaman.
