Tokyo: Simone Biles defense champion has withdraw from the final of the Olympic Olympic Olympic Gymnastics competition because of the ongoing concern for his mental health, US gymnastics confirmed on Wednesday.
“After further medical evaluation, Simone Biles has resigned from the All-Around Individual competition at the Tokyo Olympics, to focus on his mental health,” US gymnastics said in a statement.
The US Federation said the decision about whether Biles would compete in the final of individual events would be taken after a daily evaluation.
“Simone will continue to be evaluated every day to determine whether to participate or not in the final of individual events next week,” added USAG.
Jade Carey will replace Biles in the All-Around Final.
“We wholeheartedly support Simone’s decision and praise his courage in prioritizing his welfare,” said the statement.
“His courage shows, again, why is he a role model for so much.” Biles’s decision to pull out of all-around appeared after its fascinating withdrawal in the final Tuesday team in Tokyo.
