Singapore: Singapore will host Formula One Night race for seven years from 2022 to 2028, said Thursday’s organizer, after the Pandemic Coronavirus made the event for two years.
The road race around the Marina Bay City Financial Region was held 12 times since his debut in 2008 and saw 268,000 spectators present when it was last held in 2019.
But the pandemic forced the events from the calendar by 2020 and 2021 when the authority was put on a formidable sidewalk to handle the virus.
Singapore is the first night’s race at the Formula One calendar, offering street circuits that flow through the heart of modern cities.
The organizers said this was the fourth contract for Singapore and the seven-year extension was the longest to the race so far.
“This will give Singapore a longer runway to capture hidden requests when international travel recovers,” said the Singapore and Singapore Tourism Council in a shared statement.
Singapore gradually opens its limits and reduces domestic sidewalks with most of the population fully vaccinated.
“We have decided to continue to hold F1 races for seven more years, after thoroughly evaluating long-term benefits that can be carried by futures extensions to Singapore,” said Minister of Transport S.
Iswaran.
“The Singapore F1 race continues to be a strong focal point for tourists, global events, and business meetings.” President F1 and Chief Executive Stefano Domeniceri welcomed the extension of Singapore’s hosting.
“Singapore holds a special place on the F1 calendar, and this extension is part of our long-term commitment to continue to grow sports in Asia,” he said.
Singapore’s trade and tourism economy experienced his worst recession in 2020 because of the pandemic but returned to last year’s growth.
RAS has produced more than SG $ 1.5 billion ($ 1.1 billion) in tourism receipts and attracted more than 550,000 international visitors since 2008, according to organizers.
