Singapore: The number of severe Covid-19 patients in Singapore has increased in such a way that there are 60 empty beds which are currently left in the intensive care unit.
The ICU utilization rate as a whole reached 83.6% on Monday, said the Ministry of Health of the City State, up from around two thirds just below a week ago.
Of the 306 occupied ICU beds, there were 64 Covid-19 patients in critical condition and intubation, and 107 patients in conditions were unstable and monitored strictly.
135 other beds were taken for non-covid-related diseases.
The capacity of ICU beds was closely watched when the authorities warned the risk of the Singaporean health care system that was overwhelmed.
While the government loosened border control to allow visitors who were vaccinated from more countries, he had extended the strict sidewalk on the island until the end of November, including limiting social meetings to two people.
Officials say the rules can only relax when the situation in the hospital stabilizes.
“Our hospital and health workers continue to be under extraordinary pressure,” said Minister of Health Ye Kung last week.
He said more ICU beds will be opened if needed, even though it will affect normal services and medical care.
ICU patients remain an average of 15 days, and some up to a month, he said.
Singapore reported 3,174 new Covid-19 cases Monday.
There are 14 deaths from complications related to viruses, all involving people with underlying medical conditions, according to the ministry.
The case ratio for the past week for the previous week was 1.18.
Officials also watch this number to be dipped below 1 before potentially reducing the sidewalk.
