Singapore: Singapore will launch its first quarantine journey program for people who have been vaccinated from Germany and Brunei, and facilitate visitors’ restrictions from Hong Kong and Macau for trying to reopen their borders after fully vaccinating 75% of the population, the government said Thursday.
“As a global Covid-19 situation develops, we will continue to adjust our border steps with appropriate protection to ensure public health and safety,” Singapore’s civil aviation authority said.
Previously, only Singaporeans and those who had jobs or graduated students were allowed to enter the country.
From September 8, visitors from Germany and Brunei can apply for a vaccinated trip to enter Singapore, regardless of the reason they travel.
They must take some Coronavirus tests, including pre-departures, on arrival, and post-arrival, as a substitute for quarantine.
Tourists also have to live in their departure country, both Germany or Brunei, or in Singapore before that, for at least 21 consecutive days before leaving for Singapore.
Other requirements include insurance that includes Covid-19 medical care.
Separately, tourists from Hong Kong and Macau who have spent three consecutive weeks in these cities can register to enter Singapore starting August 26.
They also don’t need to quarantine if they test negative when the test is available.
However, Transport Minister S.
Iswaran said there was no more plan to establish a Singapore-Hong Kong travel bubble.
The air travel bubble planned previously was canceled twice because of the nail in the case of a virus.
While Singapore relieves travel restrictions, Hong Kong has taken a different approach and will tighten restrictions in from Friday, raising the quarantine period for vaccinated tourists with positive antibody tests from medium-risk countries for up to 14 days.
Previously, travelers from medium-risk countries such as Singapore and Canada need to be quarantined for only seven days in Hong Kong if they were fully vaccinated and tested positive for Covid-19 antibodies.
