Singapore: Singapore plans to allow quarantine-free travel for passengers who are fully vaccinated from India and Indonesia from November 29 and will add three countries early next month because they hope to “claim and rebuild” state status as an international flight center with the country hub.
Global connectivity, according to media reports on Monday.
At present, there are 13 countries, including Canada, Australia and Germany, under Singapore’s vaccinated Lane Travel (VTL) program, The Channel News Asia (CNA) reported.
According to the Straits Times report, travelers from India and Indonesia will be able to enter Singapore with a quarantine-free travel scheme from November 29.
In addition, travelers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will be able to enter Singapore from December 6, in further expansion of the VTL scheme.
Tourists under VTLs will not stay at the notification house on arrival.
Instead, they will be asked to produce negative pre-departure tests taken within two days before departure and undergoing PCR tests on arrival, he said.
Overcoming the Multi-Minister-19-Minister of Multi-Minister’s Press Conference on Monday, Transport Minister S said Singapore and India discussed the recognition of mutual vaccination certificates.
Since November 12, India has begun to recognize a vaccination certificate issued by Singapore.
“This means that tourists who are fully vaccinated from Singapore entering India no longer need to undergo quarantine tests at home, they only need to monitor themselves for 14 days after arrival,” said Iswaran.
“Our discussion with India has progressed well.
And we aim to continue two VTL flights every day to Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai on November 29.
Singapore’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAS) will provide details first,” the CNA report was quoted aswaran said.
The Ministry of Health has also renewed its public health assessment and will increase India to category 2 of November 19.
Classification of Category 2 means that a country has a similar or lower Covid-19 incidence rate than Singapore and other VTL countries.
“We are discussing the resumption of scheduled commercial passenger services (with India).
As today the only flight from Singapore who was allowed to bring passengers to India is a government charter flight under the mission of Vande Bharat,” Iswaran said.
Applications for short-term visitors and long-term passers will begin on November 22 for travelers from India and Indonesia, while travelers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE will be able to register from November 29.
Returns Singaporean citizens and remained residents who are fully vaccinated do not need to apply if they travel through VTL.
In a press release, Caas said the step-by-step extension of VTL allows it to “revive air travel safely without reducing public health” and will also help to “reclaim and rebuild” Singapore status as an international flight center with global connectivity.
In 2019, India accounted for around 7 percent of passenger arrivals at Changi Airport here.
