Gurgaon: Deputy Minister Dushyant Chautala said that on Saturday farmer organizations and their leaders could not avoid accountability for the “savage murder” of a man on the Singhu border, one of the main sites agitation of the central agricultural laws they had led.
“Leadership must be responsible,” Chautala said, trying to put Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), grouping 40 agricultural unions who had organized protests at the Delhi border since last November, under pressure.
SKM on Friday issued a statement to distance himself and agitation from the incident and promised to work with the probe.
Chautala, who has been the main political target of protests in Haryana because of its alique with BJP, said, “If some Malang incidents occur in a program organized by the Department, organization or protest movement, then the responsibility of the incident lies in the committee and its leadership.” In the city to inaugurate the new excise office, CM representatives also spoke on two significant problems that are currently a concern of farmers.
He denied there was a scarcity of fertilizer in the state.
“We reviewed the availability of fertilizers two days ago and there was enough supply.
Fertilizer will be first given to the Mustard farmer then for wheat plants,” he said.
At the delay in the procurement of Bajra, Chautala said the state government had started the portal “Meri Fasal Mera Cities” where farmers can register details about their plants and land.
“Money will be transferred to their account directly according to production.
If payment is postponed exceeding 72 hours, then farmers will get 9% interest in the amount of payment,” said Chautala, adding 2.75 lakh farmers so far listed on the portal.
