‘Single shot for 75% POPN in 30 days can cut death’

Pune: Study of the Indian Medical Research (ICMR) that was recently published in Lancet has stated that a single dose vaccination of 75% of the population in a 30-day period was found substantially reducing mortality of up to 37% and a symptomatic infection of 26%.
In a district watching the beginning of other covid waves.
The study stated that the leading level of the test across the threshold value of 0.5% in the period between two Covid-19 waves in an area can provide a timely warning for the emergence of the next wave.
This study suggested using a technique called “fast response vaccination” in a hypothetical district immediately after testing the positivity across the threshold of 0 · 5%, to reduce the local revival of Covid-19 at the beginning of another wave.
Dr.
Samiran Panda, the Head of the ICMR epidemiology and the infectious disease division, told TII, “according to this technique, we concentrate on vaccination strategies that prioritize coverage as widely as possible with a single dose vaccination, where one month is needed to close 75% of the 18-year-old population or more with a single dose.
We find that self-focused vaccination efforts substantially can reduce up to 37% of mortality in a district that witnessed the early Covid waves.
“He said the exact threshold for other districts in India can arrive In to use a quick vaccination strategy to reduce the infection that reappears during the beginning of the other waves.
In accordance with the research, if non-pharmaceutical steps, such as masks must wear, restrictions on meetings and stay at home, can be adopted along with fast response vaccination, transmission can be reduced by 25%.
“If these steps are implemented for one month in the same time at the same time with vaccination drive, the model projection shows that overall death can be reduced by 45% for covid infection with a level of reproduction 2, and 30% for it with reproductive levels 3, “He said.
The model includes practical assumptions on the influence of vaccination, including it, after vaccinated, people take an average of three weeks to develop immunity.
Thus, a single vaccine dose can offer 60% protection against severe diseases and death, but cannot protect against covid contracts alone, research findings are indicated.
The efficacy of vaccines is based on estimates published from 76% protection from symptomatic infections, following a single dose of Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine, known as Covishield in India.
Give another example of a quick and agile vaccination protocol, said Dr.
Panda, “cleaning trees on a fast-ragged forest fire will ensure that gradually, there will be no trees to be captured.
It’s like creating a fence to prevent fire to prevent further fire.
anyway, when a district crosses the peposititivity level of the threshold test that shows the revival in infection, vaccination in surrounding areas with lower test levels can increase to prevent infections to capture them.
“It also to overcome the limited vaccine shops and use it smartly.” at the time of the increase in infection.
