Beijing: The Chinese Biotech company Sinovac claimed that the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine was 94 percent effective against the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
It comes a day after a study found that two doses of vaccines failed to produce an antibody response detected against a rapidly spread variant.
The study was conducted by the company of 20 people who received two shots and 48 others received three shots.
Seven in the first group and 45 in seconds was tested positively in neutralizing antibodies against omicron variants, the company said in a statement to global time.
Sinovac said that data showed that the granting of a booster shot from its vaccine could effectively increase the capacity of the neutralization of the vaccine to the Omicron variant, read the statement.
The findings of the company were different from those released on Tuesday in preferred paper by researchers HKU.
The university study also examined neutralizing antibodies, one arm of an immune response that functions as a rough marker for protection against infection.
Of the 25 people who received a two-dosage course full of Coronavac, nothing was found to have a detected neutralization antibody level, according to the author of the study and the Yuen-Yung-Yuen infectious disease expert and his team.
Omicron variant, first discovered in early November, has been reported in 77 countries and regions, according to the World Health Organization.
