Chennai: Madras High Court has proposed as a special investigation team (sitting) consisting of representatives from CBI, Tamil Nadu and Kerala police and forest departments to investigate all elephant violations, including elephant hunting.
Division Judge V Bharathidasan and Justice N Sathish Kumar directed the CBI government, Tamil Nadu and Kerala to recommend suitable officers to be part of sitting on February 14.
The court issued orders on Thursday, with a group of demand to stop elephant deaths in the crash train and wild hunting.
During hearing, the court also directed the Ministry of Forest Union to consider and discard two weeks of proposals sent by the Forestry Department of Tamil Nadu for sanctions for funds to implement a scheme to protect wildlife.
Shekhar Kumar Niraj, head of the Islands of the Tamil Nadu Warden World Warden, told the court that Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) had built a wall between the coonor train station and the Hillgrove Train Station, which is the main elephant migration path, because of that, elephants feel It’s hard to cross the train track and they take a dangerous alternative route, which can cause falling into canyons.
Recording the same thing, the bench directs advice for the South Train to get instructions and submit a report on obstruction caused by the train line in NMR.
The court also directed shared inspections by the Ministry of Forestry and the South Railway to find a suitable solution for free elephant movements in the NMR route.
