Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu pollution control agency (TNPCB) on Wednesday sealed six charcoal manufacturing units near Kangeyam in the Tirupur District after complaints repeatedly pollution from residents in the region and operated without obtaining formal approval.
Thottiyapti has submitted a petition several times.

A total of 23 holes used to burn coconut shells to make charcoal sealed by TNPCB officials in Alambadi Panchayat.
While 13 of the 23 holes are owned by Loganathan in the village of Thottiyapti, three holes are owned by Karthick from Varathappampalayam Village, five holes owned by KN Subramaniam and two holes possessed by Arjunan.
In addition, two units at Verananampalayam were also sealed.
According to senior officials from TNPCB of the Tirupur district, charcoal making units create air pollution and affect groundwater quality.
