Coimbatore: At the end of the first round of Tamil Nadu 2021 engineering registration on Tuesday, Coimbatore Institute of Technology has emerged as the most sought after college in the city by filling in 81% of available seats.
It was followed by the PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research and PSG College of Technology with a 77% seat filled.
Cit stands in sixth position in the state with 435 of 581 seats filled in the first round of counseling.
Six engineering colleges in the city managed to fill more than 50% of seats.
The rest of the college in the city and the edges can fill less than 20% of available seats.
Of the 440 colleges in the state, only 14 colleges could fill more than 50% of seats in the first round.
While the government technology technology can fill 68% of seats, many popular private engineering colleges can only fill less than 20% of seats.
Even though it was only an early trend, college hoped to fill the seat in the next counseling round.
As many as 442 seats from 645 seats were filled in government colleges (GCT), leaving 203 seats to be filled in the next round.
Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) filled 53% of his chair in the first round.
Of the 723 seats available in college, 384 has been filled.
Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology can only fill 50% of the chair.
To provide a perspective on science discipline, 10.5% of available computer science seats are met but only less than 2% chair machine engineering chosen by students, according to career guidance experts.
“While computer science engineering and information technology are chosen by many students, artificial intelligence and machine learning courses also have a good demand this year,” said CEO of Educational Institutions Hindustan K Karunakanan.
But there are also students who go with their interest fields such as bio-medical techniques.
This year, cut-off has increased compared to last year due to a new sign, he said.
A total of 14,788 students were called for the first round of counseling and their 10,148 SOF was allocated seats.
